Its housing looks different than what I usually see on a Darley 3V8. Looks like it has the top of a Sterling K-5 or 2V8 siren, versus a cone hood. Any info about this difference?

3. Either an antenna or a former siren location. It almost looks as if there was a siren there, with a piece of sheet metal being used to keep the sound from going in a certain direction.

It is strange. The legs and motor definitely say 3V8. I wonder if it's just a custom fix-up job? The covers on those were pretty thin, and I imagine the wind could take off with them if they weren't secured properly.

It looks like it might be an antenna of some sort.
