Arizona Sirens

The Thunderbolt at Phoenix Fire Station 22 is still there. Based on Google Street View, it looks like it is at least rotated. I've not been able to find any information about actual tests. This picture was taken today.

Good to know that the T-bolt is still up!

Here's a question for all of you Arizona siren buffs.

Today, between 10:30 an 11:00 A.M., some sort of siren was activated for minutes at a time, in varying patterns (one would assume "alert" and "attack"), and was most definitely rotating as it was sounding. The closest siren to my office is the Thunderbolt at Phoenix Fire Station 22, which is a few miles away. This particular siren sounded too close to be that T-Bolt. Is it possible the waste-water treatment plant at 25th Avenue and Lower Buckeye has some type of siren system? That is the only facility close enough to my place of work that would make sense. Anyone have any ideas?

The Wastewater plant does have a siren, but I haven't figured out where or what it is. What did it sound like?

I'm not well-versed enough to give you a specific guess. It was fairly high in pitch, and sounded both in constant hi, and hi-low. Definitely not like that Thunderbolt. Maybe a 2001?

I drive past the plant almost daily, and can never spot any siren installations from the road.

Probably a Modulator. Did it sound electronic?
Could not have been a 2001- they don't have solenoids.

EDIT: Probably not a Modulator, they don't rotate. 2nd possibility: Whelen Vortex/Hornet. The Vortex is more common, and they both do alert and hi-lo, and rotate. They are not voice capable.

It's entirely possible. It did sound semi-electronic. There weren't any voice announcements, though.

Alright then, that helps us get closer to the siren. I'll try to look at some streetview coverage and see if I can find anything.

If you look at the overhead view, there appears to be the shadow of a siren next to the trees, behind one of the admin buildings.

I’ll take a look at it over lunch today and post back anything I find. Thanks for re-sparking a look for a siren there, I had forgotten about the plant having one!

This is the best angle I can find on Google Maps. Street View doesn't show much of anything, as the location is too far from any roads that have been covered by Google.
