While these are quite mild compared to some of the insanity that has been posted in this thread, there's quite a few interesting installs in the Twin Cities area. Here's a few that come to mind.

1. A Thunderbolt mounted on a cell tower. The blower pipe is run through the inside of the tower. It's been recorded several times.

3. A low, roof mounted Whelen Vortex that replaced a 4/5 Thunderbolt on this fire station near the U of M East Bank campus. Yes, there in fact used to be an East Bank Thunderbolt...

I wonder which came first, the cell site or the siren? Not the first time I've seen a siren atop a cell tower, but with the standpipe like that, it's certainly unique.

What gets me is that if you go back and look at the older streetview imagery, it used to be mounted on a normal pole......

if you go back you can see that the normal pole it was on was EXTREMELY high mounted, like the old "snow-blower allertor" that was removed a while back. it also looks like the 40V2T in Forest, Mississippi

These two reminds me of that one H.O.R. Super Si-Rex that was mounted on a platform that had cellphone antenna arrays plastered on it, I unfortunately cannot remember where it was. (says, if this jogs anyone's memory, please do chime in if you know about this particular unit). I really like how the T-Bolt looks on that cell tower.

Anyways, back in the spirit of this topic, here's another cell tower 2001, this one is mounted on the side however.

This same city has all of their pole mounted 2001s on these skinny metal poles bolted into a concrete base instead of the more common wood pole. Not sure why they are installed this way, but it seems to have been a tradition for a long time on both old and newer installs since their former system of Allertors consisted of these poles.

They were all this strange deep red color. I am not sure if they came from the factory this way or not, but the stickers still being visible leads me to believe this may have been the case. Sadly, they were all removed and replaced around the same time Minneapolis redid their system (2013-14).
