Taycheedah Soundmaster

Sun Feb 26, 2023 12:19 am

I was shoveling snow at a relative's house around noon, and as the sirens started to sound, I expected the Soundmaster to remain silent, but it roared to life and tested for about a minute and a half. I thought the siren was slated for replacement and was broken. Does anyone have information about this siren and if it was slated? (Sorry if this is an unnecessary topic.) -Sentry88

Very interesting! It's been "up for replacement" for nearly 20 years now, and yet there it still is! Hopefully it isn't replaced for a long time.

20 years?! I thought it was only for about 5 this year. That is a lot longer than I thought.

Yeah it's kind of a unique siren/location. To be honest, FDL county is kind of weird with its replacments. Not sure why they got rid of all the RM130's for instance. They were working just fine, a couple needed battery replacements. Also the St Peter Thunderbolt. Just needed a collector/chopper brush service more than likely, but they go ahead and remove it and install a half burned out Allertor lol

Yeah, and there are also some coverage gaps in some areas that could use sirens. I passed the siren, and it seemed like it was leaning a bit. But it sounded perfectly fine.

Hey, look at this. Old picture I took in 2008! Pole has been leaning for a long time

Huh. Was leaning a bit more when I saw it. Cool photo though!
