You know what, I think you are right. I know these old stencils would make for funny looking font. I thought it was a bit non-sensical have a SIREX.

Well look at what we have here! April 27 1951. The homecoming of Gen. MacArthur. Look what is on top of the Milwaukee County Courthouse! An unmistakeable sillouette! Has to be the same Mobil Directo as pictured on the roof on page 1!
