More Heath sirens in CA?

Sun Mar 10, 2024 12:04 am

I was looking around the California siren map, when I noticed that there was a Heath siren on top of the Kenwood FIre Protection District, and it even does noon blasts! I started looking around more, and there was actually 4 more that I didn't even know about, all active and one inactive (according to the CA siren map).

I thought that only 2 Heath sirens were made, but I guess I was mistaken. What confuses me even more is that they all look different. Not just with shrouds, but in size as well.

Seriously, how has no one recorded the Heath siren that does noon blasts already?

I'm probably the go-to person to learn about my city's siren history.

Heath was very successful in California, there are far more than just 2 sirens built by the company. The Heaths you're seeing are mostly the Type K, which doesn't really have a specific design and each Type K looks slightly different from one another.

There's an article on the CDS Wiki about Heath if you're interested:

I always thought there were just 2 Heath siren made. Thanks! There was another Heath siren that also looked like a E.D Bullard, but I didn't put the street view link up.

Also, the link takes me to a blank wiki page.

Looks like the period at the end wasn't being added to it, I'll fix the link. It should work now.
