Thu Jun 13, 2024 9:04 pm

A news clip from 1969. It's the STL-10(?) going off to celebrate the Apollo 11 splashdown, in San Francisco CA:

I think the Heath Engineering "Instant-Blast" horizontal siren can be heard going off at 0:09 in this!
Some guy who is interested in Taiwan's siren system as well as a few others,

Have I heard a siren? Yes, The Darley 3V8 in Columbia, California doing a noon blast.

This is amazing! If I'm not mistaken (which I usually am), you're actually the first siren enthusiast to find this and actually recognize what it is!
Just like any other 12 port siren, it definitely sounds like a 2001-130. I also don't really think that it really lives up to its name, either...

It's also a shame that it's mostly drowned out by the STL-10s. I guess it's still a real recording of it!

I'm probably the go-to person to learn about my city's siren history.

That thing sounded sickly. Maybe it's the old sound quality.
