I think video is recorded in February 27, 2000, 2pm. exact location is geukdong green 102 at oksudong.
HLS-X73 installed in 1973 and replaced to LRAD-360X in 2000, But not confirmed it yet. replaced to A&D Engineering T24 in 2014.
the okjeong middle school's T24 unit had a 24 speakers. watt is 2400W.
T24 can had 1 to 36 speakers.
Was the HLS 273 head mounted on the roof of the school like the LRAD, or was it mounted on a mast nearby? It definitely seems like the LRAD was already installed at the time of the video.

Pardon the bump, but I figured out a few things about that video. The building that it was filmed from is located at coordinates 37.542061, 127.010302. There is a siren location about 150m away, which can actually be seen twice in the video. It's on top of a raised section of roof on the Okjung Middle School building, which is the shorter building with the green roof, across the street from the filming location. The building and siren can be seen from about 0:12-0:20 and again from 0:50-1:00. The siren is visible on Streetview. It is now a loudspeaker array electronic siren of some kind, but previously (in older Streetview imagery) there was what looks to be a 5 cell Whelen omnidirectional there. The Whelen was replaced sometime between 2009 and 2015. I'm wondering if it's possible that the siren heard in the video is actually the Whelen playing a custom tone of some kind that happens to sound a lot like an HLS 273 with a non functioning speed controller? While it is possible that that there was an HLS X73 there before the Whelen, and it is hard to see in the video with the low resolution, I definitely do think, from what I can make out, that it looks a lot more like a Whelen than an HLS at the time of filming.
LRAD's sound.

Yeah so I would take this HLS statement with more than a couple grains of salt based on some of the other posts coming out of this person. The T24 and LRAD are accurate and real, but there doesn’t seem to be proof of an HLS.
Sirens may not be sexy, but they sure work.

The sound of an HLS 273 is unmistakable, I am without a doubt it is what's heard it the video.

I'm absolutely certain this is an HLS in the recording. I emailed this to the owner of the HLS website and will keep everyone informed if I hear anything back.

Hello everyone,

I am the owner of the HLS website. Thanks Brendan for your mail.

We noticed the video some time ago and have been looking for the location ourselves for a while.

The video definitely shows an HLS.

Unfortunately, we have not been able to find any HLS in South Korea on StreetView or other images on the internet.
If there was one HLS there, there must have been others.

We have also not yet managed to make official contact with Seoul or South Korea to clarify the issue directly.

As soon as we find out anything, you will find the information on the website and I will be happy to keep you up to date here.

Greetings, Joachim.
