Colorado Springs, Colorado - Old System Locations Help

Tue Mar 04, 2025 12:13 am

Hello ARS,

I have been doing some research about the old Colorado Springs CD Siren System.

I was only able to find one photo, which is a FS&S 500DHTT on the city auditorium:

I believe they were installed in 1959 (atleast according to old city documents).

So, this leads me to my final question: Does anyone know/remember any old locations of the sirens? If so, please DM me or put them in this thread.

Here's a pole mounted 500-DHTT, it was on East Yampa St at North Union Blvd

As far as other locations go, I was able to scrape up locations for multiple sirens throughout the system, but I was not able to figure out the models.
E Bijou & Chelton Rd
Waddell Ave and Lehmberg Blvd
Star Ranch rd and rt 115
Broadmoor Ave and Hutton Ln
N 30th and Uintah Sts
Cragmor Rd and Stanton St
622 Garden of the Gods Rd
I believe they had a total of 21 sirens but I'm not 100% sure.

Thanks y'all! I will try and create a map of those locations.

Hopefully I can identify the types of sirens (if only aerial view wasn't so blurry).
