What in the world is this thing???

Fri Mar 14, 2025 12:54 pm

Me and other siren enthusiasts in the Carolinas have been trying to figure out what the heck this thing is for a few whole years now. I figure some of yall on the board could be of assistance. It is located in Hopkins NC. (north of Wendell) There is a video of it sounding somewhere on youtube, but its controller appears to make it sound like it has brakes on the motor for a super fast wind down/emergency stop. If you have any theories then don't hesitate to tell me! Here is a streetview link. https://www.google.com/maps/@35.8847997 ... FQAw%3D%3D (I hope this imbeds correctly!)

Yeah I'm thinking the same as Lycanroc76, looks identical to the decot in Forman, ND

There's a video of it going off, and it has an 9 port sound to it. Given some pics have surfaced of some single-phase Siro-Drones, it's likely it could be some H.O.R siren.

Thanks for all the feedback! I do believe that y'all are correct, its most likely a Decot. Now the question is what model it is! Now I'm going to go see if I can get that onto the map! Again, thank you for the feedback, this was very helpful!
