Test of siren in Argentina

Mon Jun 19, 2017 2:59 am

I'm not sure how these men could stand so close without hearing protection.

I am guessing they have a very good tolerance to loud noise. Talk about getting personal when testing a large siren!

Well it's a siren... But these people are Argentine, they are wild people! I don't think they really care for their hearing! Anyways, sounds pretty normal, especially for a 2800RPM siren. But the housing is pretty wacky.

That is an eight-port, single-speed siren. Many Argentine sirens are twelve-port sirens with two-speed motors, copied from WWII Italian models, which make a kind of slow wail by slowly alternating between speeds.

Sorry for the MASSIVE bump, but i need to clarify some things:

1-Many people here in Argentina, especially firefighters, have a tolerance to sounds of more than 120 db, they are also inspecting the siren before its installation in the tower of the firehouse, so they are so close to the siren without protection and obviously it is likely to become deaf after much exposure.

2-The siren, in case you were wondering, is a Siemens-Schuckert Fm Si 41, it is a German 8 port siren that works in 50hz, it is a very common siren in fire stations here, this unit was probably brought from Germany and recently restored with the new housing (it is normal that they make custom housing to the sirens here).

Also, the siren that Daniel refers to is the Kingvox 1TV, specifically the one with the star-delta starter, which not all sirens have. But this siren is already well known in the forum i guess.

As i said, sorry for the bump, i just wanted to clarify a few things since I'm Argentinean, i just got en into the air raid sirens stuff and i heard that siren going off a while ago
