Findlay DONE with federal signal??

Fri Apr 25, 2025 12:36 am

The city of Findlay, Ohio, had a fire department right next to Bigelow avenue that had a 2001 siren, but I just went there, and now there is a brand new T128 in its place. What happened? And what's with the switch to the T128? And is Findlay, Ohio, switching over to ASC? For good? :?:

That was a 2001 SRN-B it looks like. Those came out ~2002.

Hard as it is to believe, that's 20+ years ago. And obviously the 2001 has been around longer than that. The oldest 2001s are approaching 40. The T-128 itself came out in 1998. The oldest of those are approaching 30.

In other words, it may not seem old since both sirens are still in production (and are manufactured in a way that they don't tend to look old for the most part), but units like these are old enough to have issues/failures. Remember, a city like Richardson, TX just replaced their T-128s with 2001s. Age is really a thing.

I'm not saying age was a factor here; we don't know. But age/maintenance are certainly a likely possibility as hard as it is to believe.

Perhaps they switched to the lowest bidder.
