Yes this 4004 is Replacing a 2001

Something tells me that allertor is a Mobile Directo


A mobile directo is a belt-driven version of the allertor. It is either rumored or true that the mobile directo also has a non-flared projector

I wonder why they are replacing that 2001 with a Whelen. The 2001 looks to be an early 90s model possible with a rounded back. The whelen is mounted pretty high up.

The Whelen is on a 60 foot pole.

That SD-10 looks like one from Los Angeles , but why no
Power Drop to the Siren just Tell-co. control connection, yet
on a Black and White photo, perhaps taken well before 1986 when
power would have been cut.


I like that 60 foot pole on the Wheelan and look at the controls
at least 18 to 20 feet high, Keep them Vandals off , unlike the
easy to climb 2001 tower .

The first siren is not a Carters but a Federal Lion, the first siren made by what was then called Federal Electric. They are single-tone sirens that sound the same pitch as a 12-port Model 5. "F" for Federal, I guess.

The T-135 near UWM is actually not on the campus, but across the Milwaukee river, several blocks west of the campus on Chambers St. Also, UWM stands for University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. That Allertor is very interesting, though. The rotation mechanism looks very large to me for some reason.

There isn't really anything special about that allertor, other than the fact that it is an earlier model with a different drive system.
