You know I'm thinking Hormann might be the original producer of those ATI looking speakers. I know that Hormann sells some of their other speakers to other companies and I imagine thats the case with ATI. I'm actually not too surprised that ASC uses them because both Hormann and ASC have very close commercial ties.
I'm sure that what truely makes ATI suck is their control equipment and tones, not so much the speakers themselves.
What's with the Hormann speculation? Hormann doesn't make anything for ASC or ATI. The horn assemblies are made by Kingstar out of Taiwan, I believe.
The E-Class is a low cost competitor for the ATI HPSS 32. The differences are: (1) The HPSS is primarily a loudspeaker - so it uses Class D amplifiers (pulse width modulation) for more accurate frequency response. (2) The E-Class uses Calls B amplifiers and uses a square wave to generate its tone. Given that it generates square waves, it isn't going to be very good as a loudspeaker.
They actually makes alot of sense. I looked up Kingstar and they do carry that speaker.
I do know for a fact that Hormann did make speakers for ASC at least at one time. ASC used to carry the ECN speaker a while back. I was actually someone from ASC that told me that they had commerical ties with Hormann at one point.
Those ATI looking speakers ASC carries are nothing more than four 100W vehicle speaker drivers sharing the same output. Then again...so is the Modulator....
