The SiraTone EOWS 612/1212 had the option for a seventh signal entitled "Temporal Slow Whoop."

While I can't find any signal descriptions in the Modulator's manual, it's very possible that Federal Signal STILL offers the Temporal Slow Whoop as an optional signal for their electronic sirens.

If that's the case, than that video is probably one of the only, if not THE only video recordings of the Temporal Slow Whoop being played on a Federal Signal product.

Now if only we could get a video of the "Yelp" and "Yeow" signals.

You can hear something around the WPS hiss, possibly from the low vibration tone.

Not to get too off topic, but I have noticed that with the Whelen 2800s in St Louis City as well as with a new Whelen 2900 in Brentwood in St Louis County (replaced an EOWS 612 that replaced a Thunderbolt). I guarantee that a lot of the possible tonal power is being lost to that hissing noise, whether it is from interference in the controls being greatly amplified or a problem with the drivers. The noise seemed to be much more prominent with the newer 2900. In fact, the 2900 had not only a loud hissing noise but also a blip every second or so (possibly intentional to increase its distinctiveness) The Modulator that I have heard go off before sounded fairly clear and the ASC iForce I heard had crystal clear sound. Not a problem you encounter with mechanicals.

That's nothing like what the temporal slow whoop sounds like. Temporal whoop has 3 half second whoops with a 1 and 1/2 second pause. There's actually a clip of what temporal whoop basically sounds like on their website. It's used now for a general evacuation of a fire signal.

I've always thought it was the siren housing vibrating due to the sheer force of the sound. Those rods they use to hold all the cells together would be, in my estimation, extremely prone to such vibrating.

Just a guess, but I think its the siren support and materials, not the drivers or the electronics.

There's no way it could be the physical structure of the siren. For one, the buzzing could not be that loud and secondly, it would vibrate the siren apart. It's something to do with the tone generator or amp receiving interference most likely.

Whelen has corrected this problem on their WPS 2900 series by raising the tone to 560 HZ steady. See Southlake Tx siren test on youtube to hear.
