Question on the siren in this video?!

Thu Jan 17, 2008 3:50 am

I know this video is almost 2 years old, but it is the first time I have seen it and I cant figure out what kind of siren is in this video. Really cool video of the tornado in the back drop about to attack these people recording this video though.

Well, Iowa City has a system of Whelen 2800s, which you can hear in the distance. I'm guessing the high pitched siren you are hearing is from the University of Iowa's system, and it beats me what they have. It sounds like an older model Whelen, though (it sort of cuts out at the end). The tone quality is right for an older model Whelen. It may be a 2001, but I HIGHLY doubt it.

i can hear some of the whelens, but that higher pitched one has got me baffled, i though maybe it could be a WPS-3016 but it is high enough pitched.
