New user checking in, plus Federal EG question

Sat Feb 02, 2008 5:12 am

Greetings everyone. New user saying hello. I'm not a hardcore siren collector, but I'm a hobby machinist/tinkerer and developed an interest in chopper sirens a while back. Sooner or later hope to get a smaller Civil Defense model of some sort.

While I'm here typing I'll ask a question. Added a Federal model EG to my stash last week. It's a 12V single-tone siren. Does anyone know the date range Federal made this model? Doesn't seem terribly old, but it has some age to it. Works like a charm and the brass grill buffed up nicely.

I'd say late 40's to the mid 60's. It's one of the smaller vehicular sirens Federal made (I believe it has a model L rotor). You may want to ask John Dorgan at http://www.sirenman.com

Thanks guys. This one must be from later in the run, wiring looks late '50s at least.
