What was that four horned speaker siren? It looked like a Federal Signal SiraTone 612, but it only had four speakers while the 612 has six.

It is the siren that starts up at 00:32 on the news reel.

That was one of the better news reports about sirens Ive ever seen. The fact that they actually had somebody record all those sirens was pretty cool (and I agree with coyoteunknown that the blue allertor was the coolest ). The only stories I've seen locally in Milwaukee are usually stupid crap about how some old guy can't hear the sirens in his living room, or people wanting their community to get sirens after the most recent tornadic weather event. I liked that they actually acknowledged the importance of updating and maintaining sirens, as opposed to acting like weather radios and reverse 911 are the be-all and end-all solutions for severe weather notification (which has seemingly become the popular response to concerned citizens around WI ). Notice the time they mentioned it would take to warn people if using reverse 911: 20 MINUTES! That's more than enough time for a tornado to form, touch town, destroy everything in sight and dissipate.

I know when I heard them saying the Reverse 911 takes 20 minutes, I was thinking of myself Wow, that is a huge waste of money, because by that time everyone will be either dead or picking themselves out of a tree and the phone service would be knocked out.

Reverse 911 is rarely an economical and practical choice, and when it comes to severe weather, it is a load of BS. Why can't people realize that sirens for people outdoors and weather radio or TV for people indoors is the best thing out there today?
