Whelen Hornet Test

Josh we have a whelen. We just need more of them that are capable of traveling the distance in harsh condition's. But theres a problem.... Jim nor the EMA will sign a darn contract with Whelen. I hate Jim

I'm surprised that a siren as small as the Hornet still has the low tone of the 4004's, and that it is 118 DB at 100 feet. I used to not care much for most Whelens, but they're growing on me.

I thought they were awesome from the moment I saw my very first one, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Imagine my surprise to hear them described as the "Whelen Virus" and "Loudspeakers on a pole". Despite their shortcomings, I think they're some of the meanest looking sirens on the market and I'd love to get my hands on one of them. Sadly, I don't know of anywhere to obtain cheap Whelen's.

I guess the reason you can't find cheap Whelens anywhere, is because they're electronic sirens, and they take a lot longer to go out of date. There's also a lot of Whelen hate out there, so I don't think very many people have Whelens in their siren collections. I think that most of the Whelen hate comes from cities that had Thunderbolts, that were replaced by Whelens.

i was really rooting for the t-112. i personally dont see the greatness of a speaker playing a sine wave. i think theres much more to see with a mechanical siren, but thats just my opinion.

I guess that means the WPS-4008 fell off the list completely. *laughs* Regardless, I appreciate the video and despite peoples opinions it's great to see a video of the Hornet in action. Plus Karma for you.

It's actually the other way around. Mechanical sirens last alot longer than mechanical sirens. Electronic sirens haave an avarage lifespan of around 20 to 25 years and mechanical sirens normally last around 45 to 50 years. You just see less electronic sirens because they've really only recently become popular.

Actually the 4008 and T-112 are tested about 2 hours apart. I was planning on getting both.

*Laughs* You know, for some reason, I thought that the Hornet would sound like a dual-tone 3016! But anywho, it is a really good video. It's the first of it's kind!
