Actually, I agree with you. Single tone Mods sound sort of like what ATI's would sound like if they had a wind-up, and a wind-down. I wish the pitch was adjustable for Mods. The newer dual tone Mods in Hawaii sound much better than these, despite their high pitch.StonedChipmunk wrote:Another single-tone Mod. God, they can't just stop selling them?
As much as I like Mods, single-tone ones are getting old. ATIs do single tone. Why does Federal have to pull itself down that far with their #1 electronic siren?
It's such a shame we don't have a dual-tone on our campus, either. As thecompanycar noted, emergency vehicle traffic can sound very similar... our school is RIGHT next to the road that EVERY ambulance call goes through... the hospital is on the other side of the tunnel down the road a bit, and on our side is the ghetto (read: shootings, drug overdoses, etc.). Plus, about 50% of fire engine traffic goes down that road. Not to mention the occasional cop running code 3. So yes, it's hard to tell when the Mod is running, even though it's only run once for an emergency and tested 2 or 3 times in the past 3 years.
