Funny thing is, every time I go to the airport, I approach that fire station from the direction that the picture shows and then turn right, which brings me across its front. I never noticed the siren. Then again, last time I went to the airport, I wasn't really "siren-aware".

Found a Hartford Tbolt, seen from I-91. It's the one that Dan Drega said was near BJ's. Didn't see the BJ's, though Didn't take a picture either...I was too amazed, and kind of far away. However, here is the Model 2 on the fire station in the center of Bloomfield.

A while ago, Dan said that there was a rumor about an STH- or STL-10 on the roof of the West Hartford town hall. Well, this morning I have proven that rumor true!

Another angle showing more of both building and siren, but from further away:

Looks to be an STH-10!

Correction that is an STL-10.

Ah, thanks! I thought it looked a bit odd compared to the STH-10s I've seen. I was wondering why it looked a bit sparse in the horn department...

Yes, that is indeed an STH or STL-10 sitting silently atop West Hartford Town Hall. I know the town administration well and one of the senior guys took me up onto the roof to view it about 5 years ago. It's all seized up and rotting, as is the control box located indoors at the top of the stairwell leading to the roof.

AS FOR THAT OLD ROTTING POLE M/2 FROM THE CORNER OF ALBANY AND STEELE ROAD...IT WAS INDEED TAKEN DOWN..BY ME..AND IT'S SITTING IN MY BASEMENT AS I WRITE THIS. IT'S ALL SEIZED UP AND NEEDS A NEW MOTOR, BUT SHE'S A BEAUTY. DEFINITELY VINTAGE 1950S. I will be looking to sell it soon. I'll post pics if anybody requests.

I also photographed another OLD rusty Model 2 in Avon; it was largely concealed by trees, where Harris Rd ends at West Avon Road. It has since been ROBBED!!..The pole was knocked down and siren taken...about a year ago...was it one of you guys on this board?
Anyways, somebody give me a holler and I'll start to post some of my pics.
HINT--there's a beautiful old rare bird of a Federal or Sterling dual head sitting atop Farmington Middle School with a little Model A attached to its support stand for "dual" effect.
Keep in touch!
Mike

Bolding your entire post is not necessary.
I love/photograph/collect old pole sirens! Let's restore those rusty relics!

I remember you sending me pics of this siren awhile back along with 2 others. I just dug them up off my old freewebs site

This is a Federal B (ironic that there's an A under it).

an old, 1st generation Model 5 in Southington Image

one of Hartford's T-bolts.

Yes the top part of the standpipe has come loose, causing the whole head to lean. Now this pic is several years old and I'm not sure if it's still up, or if it's leaning any worse. I had a pic of another one, but I've lost it.

Ah, bless you "3t"...

:D You're the best, "3t".
I was going to go through my photos and dig those up, but they're in a pile somewhere and it's a hassle...glad YOU found them FOR me and posted them! Aren't those beauties? And that "Leaning tower of T-bolt" on Hartford's south side is indeed still there waiting for redemption.
Keep in touch!
That Federal B and original 5 are gems that must come down for restoration! I'll try to get on it. The Southington 5, though, is sitting atop an abandoned building. Not sure about ownership issues.

That Tbolt is the Elmwood Tbolt I believe...I was a few blocks away from it last Thursday, but was not in a position to detour to it.

Thanks for joining my CT siren mission, Mike!

I made an interesting discovery today. The East Granby Model 5 behind the strip mall and the one behind the firehouse are actually just one siren! The two places are back to back with each other, with a bit of woods in between with the 5 in them!
