yes, got close-ups of that one, too...you can sit at a picnic table in the station's backyard and look right at it sitting among a stand of trees.

I've got a few more from around W. Hartford and Hartford Co. that I'll post soon.
I love/photograph/collect old pole sirens! Let's restore those rusty relics!

Thanks! This is great, having two more experienced people fill in the holes in what I'm finding.

I took a school trip today. Thought I'd pass the Hartford Tbolt at the little police station, but we took a different highway.

You learn something new every day. I've never heard of a Federal B before. Is it single tone or dual? By the looks of it, the rotor must be about the size of a Model 5.

The good news: I have Tbolt pictures.
The bad news: They are horrible pictures.

First of all...the Jennings Road Tbolt...

Image

It's kind of to the left and very blurry.

Better quality picture of the next Tbolt, the "one near BJ's"

Image

Look through the tree, you'll see it.

Bonus question: Is the thing in this picture below an old, sirenless siren mount for something the size of a Model 5 or similar? I'm quite curious...

Answer to the bonus question: The sirenless siren mount is a can be used as a mount for a Model 5 but is more commonly used for a Thunderbolt's blower.

On the one hand, this makes perfect sense. This platform thingy is almost directly lined up with the other two Tbolts, though there's about a mile's distance (or something like that) between each.

On the other hand, why so many Tbolts so close together?!

I think you got the 2 pics mixed up. The bottom one is on Jennings Rd by Carmax, the other by the big blue building is the "one near BJ's" . Someone told me that BJs was close by to this siren (I've never been to that BJ's). I know it's near the old? prison. There use to be a 2 on the prison's tower but it vanished a while back. Also the T-bolt by the big blue building is in a different possition. I drove by it today on I-91 north on my way to pick up my girlfriend at the airport. The horn was facing the highway. I'd be willing to bet the wind blew it around sometime last week durring one of the very windy days.

Oops! I guess a mix-up was to be expected. A few notes...the prison isn't that old, to answer your question...it also doesn't seem to have a tower. The prison you are thinking of...what does it look like.

On another note, the mystery "potential siren platform" is directly lined up with the two existing Tbolts! There must have been one there once! It is on (sort of) Pequot street/off of Market street. In other words, where Cirque du Soleil is! That's how I saw it yesterday.

The prison is the 4 story brick building on the right of the blue building. The tower, at least it seems like one, is the tall structure in the center. The 2 was right on top the right hand raised corner.

While that's very possible, the vast majority of Hartford's T-bolts and every pole mounted one I've seen in CT have the blower mounted to a typical platform attached to the same pole about 8 feet off the ground.

Ok...however, I must respectfully disagree. I believe that is a former factory of sorts, not a prison. There is, however, the newer prison for the city in the other direction from the blue building, also on Weston St. None of this is relevant to sirens, though, so I'll stop arguing.
