Check out this Whelen!

Sun Apr 20, 2008 9:04 pm

Listen to what this Whelen in Ashland, MA is doing! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGvNhPHD8MY

I've never heard a Whelen doing Westminster Chimes before. I love the way this thing sounds!

Here's another video of this same Whelen doing a single Air Horn blast.

Hum, just about fell out of my chair when that thing went off. I've never heard a whelen do that, ever.... sounds like it was a recording with the popping sounds at the start and end. :?

This is a better sounding Chime than the EOWS...

I was honestly expecting something near the same tones as the EOWS sirens. However, I will admit it sounds better then an EOWS, but muffled or so.

Actually this Chime sounds more realistic (ie. like a carillon) than the EOWS's more synthetic tone

Sounds more realistic compared to the EOWS series. I wonder why the wouldn't use attack for fire calls instead of the air horn as posted in the review of the video.

A church in town has an electronic tolling bell of some sort, mounted in their bell tower. I don't know who made the thing other than it's probably fairly old.
