I didn't think that a 100 HP blower would be needed just to increase the sound output by 3 DB.

It's incredibly hard to supercharge a siren with multiple open ports, due to the pressure loss and amount of air escaping. That's why the Thunderbolt has only one port in its stator.

Bloody hell! That's excellent work! Sounds like it has the undertones of a Carters in there too.

It would require a blower equal to about 100hp to supply enough air to the 2001. That would defeat the purpose of the 2001's simple design.

Could fan-force it (as opposed to blowing), though that might add extra stress to the rotors extremely close tollerances. It was an idea that I wanted to implement separately from my MDP but never got around to it.

I never thought about using a fan instead of a blower, but that's an idea. I know that you can supercharge a flashlight siren that way. We're only talking about 3 DB, so I don't think that air pressure equal to that of a Thunderbolt blower would be necessary.

If they made the 2001 lower tone though, like I demonstrated in my second video, the lost 3 DB may not even be an issue. They may even be able to make up for it by turning the lower tone rotor a little faster, or using curved ports. A DC powered duel tone siren would be a cool project to work on.
