ACA Allertor 125-Broken Rotator

Here's a video I took of an ACA Allertor 125 on S. 108th St in Greenfield, WI. It has a broken rotator, as you'll plainly see, and turns around randomly in the wind.

It also shot out a lot of water which seemed to have collected in the "donut" shape around the chopper. It was sort of neat to watch it spray out the projector on top, but distressing also, because it meant the chopper would have been partially submerged in water.

I was very happy to hear the Attack signal, which Milwaukee hasn't tested in nearly a year.

I called the Milwaukee County Sherriff's office of Emergency Management to report the broken rotator, so hopefully it gets fixed rather than taken down. I really love these sirens and don't want to see them all gone.

Nice video. We don't have many videos of those newer Allertors with the deeper dish/horn. It's funny to watch it windvane!

I hope they get that rotator fixed. If not, you should try and see if they'll let you keep it. I'd hate to see another siren gets taken down and scrapped just because of a broken chain. :-/

It's also neat seeing all that water drip out of the projector.

Good you filmed it! I remeber telling Archon when I saw that the Greenfield DPW yard's Allertor was taken down, was only about 2 years ago. Last time I went pats there, the projector was dismembered from the "donut" assy, and was sitting by the waste treatment dome closest to the highway.

Greenfield did pick a cool color for them, baby blue!!

Oh, I'll try, alright. I didn't see any chain hanging off or anything obvious, but if it's being taken down, I'd LOVE to adopt this siren. When I called the EM office, they told me they would relay it to the technicians. Apparently there are problems with some of the other sirens on that side of town.

Yep, there it sits, to this day. I'm trying to get a hold of that one if at all possible.

Oh, BTW They did have a T-128 demonstator over on 63rd by Amer Sci and Surp. a few months back. Maybe this is a sign they are going to be purchaseing new stuff.

It was oh so cool to be at ground level with a T-128 (it was lowered on the boom on the trailer) The projector was about 4 ft wide!

Lucky you! :)

THAT big?! I've seen one in person close up, but, I thought it was 3-4 feet.

@ Ramfett: Is that "Dismembered" Allertor still there? I'd check how the rotor/stator sections are. If the casing's damaged, you could always convert it into a P-10. ;)

Ah, okay. Still, pretty big, I must say. Prolly best not to wonder how heavy it is.

T-132 is probably 5', though. :)
