Was there ever a Single-Toned 125 Rotating model?buggsr wrote:Yes...there was a Soundmaster Single rotor/stator version.....It had a "witches Hat" cone atop it......Seems I may have seen one on this site and didn't think about it until now.....
It used the same motor and the cone top hat covered the unused shaft...
mounted similar to the big brother .... Not too many made tho....
I don't think the current Rock County Director is the one who presided over the changeout of the originals....It may be they will look up the records...If my memory serves correctly they were from the Appleton or Greenbay area....should be quite promenent in siren install and repairs...
Johnson Creek's siren is a True Super Banshee. It looks kind of like 2 single tone Cyclone choppers on top of eachother. Someone else had a pic of an identical siren in NE. It's 8/12 port with angled stator blades. I've seen it in person. Huge siren.SirenMadness wrote:Hm, a SoundMaster with a single rotor. Interesting.
The "Janesville 7" picture shows how heavy the construction of a typical SoundMaster looks like! Now, what is up with that one at Johnson Creek, in the first picture? Looks weird.
Hmm, was it the one in Footville, WI? I like the Cyclones. I've seen two in person. BIG sirens.Ben, The Magnificent wrote:There was a 3rd super banshee that I found outside of Johnson Creek and Tomah. When I find it, I'll post it. If my memory serves me correctly, it's not there anymore.
Edit, the Cyclone is a fun siren. If I remember right there were 40 and 50hp models. I like the 40 as it has a more long-winded windup which is more exciting -- you can savor it.
Dodgeville, WI tests their dual tone banshees and Cyclones daily, though the Cyclone only growls. It comes to life full cycle bi-monthly though.
