Model D disassembly & restoration

Sat Aug 23, 2008 10:49 am

Here are some pics of my latest project. This siren used to reside on the front of the 1 truck Roddy VFD, about 15 minutes above Eastman, GA. I spotted it a while back and mentioned it to our EMA director, time when it on and I eventually forgot about it. Then last week I got a call from the EMA director and he said the siren had been removed from the fire house because it was making some of the boards rot out and I could have it. I went up to his office and he had it sitting in the back of his truck. It looks horrible, has holes rusted in the motor cowling, but it runs great.

Here is what it looked like when I picked it up

Latest update, the motor cowl after being stripped of all rust and the numerous holes. Nothing some careful Bondo won't fix.
