Won't be getting any more 'till 2nd Friday in May 2009... That's the only test that the city does. And of course storm events...

Hey DJ...maybe you could offer to re-paint the housing of that siren for them in the spring....might give you a chance to see some specs on the thing! I'd come out and help ya. Just a thought.

Ive been told that it was installed in 1959 - so its right about 50 years old. It was installed when El Paso County installed their system, there were a few of these in Colorado Springs, along with other models. Calhan and Manitou Spgs were the only ones to keep their 550s after the county took theirs down in 1990.

It looks really nice up close. What it's made of is 2 500/500t heads.

Just put that date, May 8, in my cell phone.
What time? 11:00 a.m.?
My wife and I plan to make a pilgramage to see it operate.
Maybe do some tornado chasing at that time of season.

Thank you.
I attend the Lightning Data Center meeting at St. Anthony Hospital from 11:30 to 13:00.
Everyone is welcome. We always meet on Friday the 13th! (Second Friday of every month.)

So this is good news.
Thanks.

Not a problem... If I have my prototype siren fully done by then, I'll sound it along with the City's siren.
