Oh gotcha. Yeah I'm thinking that the Thunderbolt version was designed specifically as a fire signal and the alternating wail is simply just that.

Like, for example, a Hi-Lo Whoop or something.

oh yeah you can, custom ordered tones can be created if you got the software or you can order a customized signal patterned in any way you like

They weren't meant to hold steady, they were meant to keep continously (sp?) changing pitch in an up and down way then wind down dual-toned. You'll notice the hint of thunderbolt in the wind-down if you listen well.

The list of auxiliary tones from the EOWS* 115 / 1212 / 612 manual is:

-Yelp
-Yeow
-Slow Whoop
-Temporal Slow Whoop
-Bell
-Gradual Horn
-Westminster Chimes



That should sum it up.

Well judging by my knowldge of police sirens, yelp would probablly sound something like a police car (AKA SUPER fast wail) and yeow I really don't know sorry.

Well yeah, that would make sense with Yelp.

Also, I remember reading something a while ago that the Allertor had an optional 3rd signal called "Yeow" (or was it Yelp?) during which the siren would wind up, then reverse motor polarity to "yelp" down. It was apparently listed as a fire signal.

I guess the one on the EOWS would probably sound similar.
