Thu Jul 02, 2009 12:27 am

Here is a video I shot today of the HOR Siren in downtown Hamilton. Strange sounding siren. Careful it is loud. Enjoy. :)

I think we've all been waiting for proof of an HOR siren that rotates.

Thank You for posting!!

One minor correction...

In your description, you say that the building is the city garage. The city garage is actually on Route 4 just north of the Fairfield city limits. There's a pole-mounted TBolt near the city garage.

The building that the HOR is on is the former municipal building. It's now known as Heritage Hall and also houses a museum of some sort.

For those who are interested, there are lots of great photos of that building at http://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WM3TE6

Glad to see that old thing still works. I was really excited when I found it several months ago and was hoping that it was still in use, since so many old sirens seem to be forgotten.

There are a few other buildings with really cool architecture in the downtown area. I lived in Hamilton for 3 years when I was younger, but was not old enough to appreciate them. I was parked on the service entrance side so I just assumed  it was a garage.

That thing sounds scary! Reminds me of when there was a 500AT near my old house, it really sounded scary when it would rotate my way. I imagine that also sounds crazy at a distance.
Awesome video.

I was in the black Explorer parked in the hotel parking lot. I saw you over next to the parking meter filming.

Yeah, I was using the parking meter to stabilize the camera, plus I think it actually helps the low end of the audio vs. what gets absorbed by your hand. I should have got a clip of the people walking by holding their ears.

I used the church bells as a cue of when to start recording.

The sound reminds me of a Decot.
