Interesting Model 5/7 paint job

Tue Jul 07, 2009 5:12 pm

Saw this siren when waiting at a traffic light. Would have stopped for a closer look but I was in a hurry.

Maybe it's designed to herd cows faster? That's one interesting paint design. :)

There's a siren like that here, it's Riverside's High-toned Model 7.

I always though that was the cow siren look until I saw one like that in IL. Buy instead if having black circles painted on, they were shaped like a doorway to resemble a birdhouse more. I guess large birdhouse gets less visual complaints than large siren maybe? I'm posting from my phone now, but when I get back in my comp I'll try to find the pic and upload it to here.

Bowling Green, KY painted all of their sirens with cow spots. The reasoning is something to do with their COWS. Community Outdoor Warning System.

My guess is that since they are traditionally found in fire stations, the spots are modeled on a dalmatian rather than a holstein.

Dig that paint job! First time I've seen a siren in that color! Now a Thunderbolt with that paint job would be totally AWESOME!
