I know the new 2001's have an exponential profile, I live next to one. The old ones don't and they're still pretty loud if you ask me. I think the blower concept w/o an exponential horn, while not the best idea, is way better than no horn at all.

Will that little siren motor be strong enough to chop air at high pressure? You may need a larger motor.

I seem to remember it was either JasonC or Adam Pollak that put a model L on a thunderbolt blower and recorded it...

Mike, very good memory! That must have been 5 or 6 years ago. I took my Model L and put it on my T-Bolt blower. The air load was way too strong and put too much resistance on the motor. There was a noticeable drop in pitch, without that much increase in volume output. I have the video somewhere and if I can by chance find it, I'll upload it to YouTube and post the link.

The volume when it recorded over was not that high, so you'll need to turn your volume up. I encoded this video Feb 2003, so the recording itself is older than that.

Of course it will slow down the rotor a bit, but keep in mind, that the air has got less contact surface, since my creation uses only one port of about 1cm?,
while every port of the model D was used in the video!
