Nevada/Arizona Sirens on Trip *Pics*Cosgrave*

Fri Aug 07, 2009 4:30 am

Hello, just got around to loading all the pictures i took on my trip to Las Vegas and also into Arizona (Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Sedona, other area's). So here they are:

Thunderbolt on top of McCarran International Airport

Model 2 about 20min outside of Las Vegas on a Fire Station

Found these two Whelen's in Oak Creek Canyon, Az on my way to Sedona. I talked to the fire man there and he said there are five sirens in the Canyon to warn people of forest fires. I only found two in this Canyon.

Federalcode model 2 in Chlioride, Az. This siren is next to the old fire station that is not used anymore, so the siren isn't used anymore.

STH-10 in Cottonwood Az. Talked the the paramedics and they said that building use to be the fire station and that siren is not used anymore.

Now this is funny! The same day i found this siren and had NO idea what it was, Crazywarriorman posts the siren that i saw, a Cosgrave siren on the board. I was really happy i knew the name of it but at that time i didn't know that picture was the same siren i found in Jerome Az, because of the angle. Man what a coincidence it was the same siren on the same day. If you would like anymore pictures of the siren just let me know

Here is a small federal siren with two other mystery sirens in Seligman Az

And last a Model X siren and a STH-10 in Peach Springs Az. Maybe you can tell me the model of the X with the box's information. I also got a siren there and will be posting it soon.

No, i dont think they had any idea. They told me this:
there about 4-5 years old
There tested once a year, mechanically and with sound every two years
And they have no control over the sirens at all

They look like Vortexes, I'm guessing, because of the square box coming off of the bottom. Or do I have it backwards and the 4004 has that?
