Really Deep T-Bolt Video

Mon Sep 25, 2006 8:36 pm

Listen to how deep sounding this Thunderbolt is in this tornado video from this past weekend. Sounds like there are some 2001s in the background too. There was a TBolt in Mount Vernon that was sounded that low before they replaced it with a 2001 in 1998.

Listening to the recording, that Thunderbolt has the regular rotor; the lower-tone rotor has the same port-ratio as the Hurricane. So there must be motor-problems, probably uniform residue on the collector rings.

No, the pitch is adjustable on the TBolt. There's a terminal strip that, depending on where it is on the strip, raises or lowers the pitch. This one is probably on the first or second setting.

Great sounding T-Bolt! A little unusual sounding, but cool. I like it. But then again, I like anything and everything T-Bolt!

Awesome! Thanks for sharing. It somewhat sounds like on second 12 that it's trying to go up but can't.

Probably collector ring warpage, or debris. Sounds like it's kicking out the sound though!

How come you guys are so quick to point to a malfunction? Like jkvernon said, isn't it most likely just set to a low tap on the transformer?
