Thunderbolt blowers can be mounted INSIDE a building but special provisions must be made. The manual recommends that a intake pipe suck in OUTside air rather then inside air.

This is especially true in cold regions like here in the Midwest were we get cold winters.

So far I've only seen & heard of one Thunderbolt that has the blower Inside a building & thats in Ramona SD.

There actually seem to be a few schools inside the City of Cincinnati that have the blower inside rather than out. I've seen blowers on the outside of schools as well.

Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois has the blower inside the penthouse on their tallest building.

I was really surprised to find it installed like this since it's so rare.

Thanks for all of your input. Upon closer inspection of the picture, the blower & control box may have been behind the Nu-Maid sign.

Actually, when I look at the Westwood TBolt on Birds Eye, I can see the blower sitting next to the tower.

Andy,
I was out on the east side last Sunday near Lunken airport. I was not able to see if there was a 2001 on the MSD plant. The Tbolt is still on the water works plant on Kellogg Av. Its gray.

Yeah, I was certain there was no 2001 at that MSD. I went by the Waterworks last Monday and saw the Tbolt as well. Remember back in may, council member Cole was concerned with the city's sirens, and wanted battery backups for the whole city, and according to the county EMA, none of the sirens have it, and that still seems to be true. So, there wouldn't be any 2001s in the entire city as of yet.

I do have a feeling that their new sirens will be 2001s, because it seems to me that the city's sirens have Federal instead of ASC RTU's on them, and Clayton said to me a few months back that the city will differ to the county.

Blower inside

Hamilton County has 15 or 20 of the blowers on the inside. Most of the city fire houses are that way.
