Federal Signal Model 2T (1983) Full Restroation

Tue Sep 15, 2009 11:47 pm

This past weekend I decided to restore my 1983 FS Model 2T-120 air raid siren. I painted it the original colors, the siren gray and the legs black. I removed the paint off of the chopper since the chopper isn't supposed to be painted. I also replaced the brushes and cleaned the commutator.

I believe my two days worth of work on it turned out to be well worth it! It sure looks beautiful.

Here's the pics:

I'm already beginning work on my 1977 Model 2T, however it needs a bit more work than this one did.

Let me know what you guys think.

It sounds wonderful Charlie! I am surprised the camera didn't distort a lot. :o

So the difference between the Model 2 and the 2T is that the 2T is dual tone?

Yes.

This is what a Model 2 sounds like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ylEqqYI4oA (credit Charlie Davidson)

I'm not quite sure yet. I believe I am going to sell the 1977 2T instead, after we get it restored. Both sirens run off of 120 volts.

When I come up with a price, I'll put it up on eBay and post a link in the For Sale forum. I may put the starting bid around $300, shroud not included as of now, unless I can hunt down one by then.
