The Heritage Horns of Vancouver

Mon Jul 19, 2010 10:11 pm

I finally got a recording of these last Sunday in Vancouver, BC. On the roof of the Canada Place building where my ship docked, there are ten horns (Kockums, I believe) which play the first four notes of "O Canada" every day at noon.

By the way. I did not see any sirens in Vancouver. All the Mobil Directos and CLM sirens have been removed.

Is it bad If I knew all the words to O' Canada before I knew all the words to the Star-Spangled Banner? Maybe I've just spent too much time with friends in Ontario growing up... Thats pretty cool, Something I'd really like to see someday. :D

O Canada
O Canada, our home and native land,
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise, the true north strong and free.
From far and wide, O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

The Star-Spangled Banner
Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

...and for your further edification...

"Mexicanos, al grito de guerra ...." nevermind.
