Thought I'd start a thread to show off (or give credit to) old/historic siren photos you have or have found through libraries, newspapers, etc.

The page the photo came from said it was an alarm system and that they would make a long blast on the

siren

for tornadoes.

Looks like a Model D to me, or like this siren in Seneca, Oregon, whatever it is.

The first pic of the tbolt in tulsa I think was at I44 and between Lewis and Harvard. I will have to see if I can dig up some of the old photos I have from around Tulsa. I know I have some from the tbolt that stired my strange obsesion with sirens! LOL It was at Cooper Elementry school when I was but a small lad way back in the 70's. wow, now I feel old.

The 1000T was on the south side of I-44 at E 51st and S Columbia. The Tulsa Library collection said the photo was taken in 1967.

That's exactly where it is... er, was - my in-laws live just north of there and I remember that apartment building (since demolished to make way for the expansion of I-44. There was a 3016 there for a short time in the late 80's, then it was moved south to 56th and Florence (behind Nimitz Middle School and another elementary school.)

Long way off to move a siren...haven't seen a Whelen closer to where the 1000T was. In addition to the Bolt, here is another photo:
