Don't Shoot the Messenger...

Thu Dec 02, 2010 11:52 pm

As many of you know I live in Arizona and am only about 10 minutes away from Scottsdale (the city that now HAD the three HOR Super Sirex's). Well just about two years ago the HOR Super Sirex at Navajo Elementary school was removed completely when the school went under renovations; the large tower, control panels, and all were removed.

Pictures of the Navajo siren are in this older thread: http://www.airraidsirens.com/forums/vie ... efb21b5d3e

Well just today I decided to take some time and drive around to do a "check up" on what I thought would be the two remaining HOR Super Sirex's. One at Tonalea Elementary School and the one at the old Motorola Plant. I had also planned to photograph them as well for you guys (especially since the one at the old Motorola plant had never been photographed before).

However to our dismay, they too have met the same fate as the one at Navajo Elementary did. At their old locations there is no remainder of them what-so-ever. Even new concrete slabs have been poured, where the bulky towers once stood. It is sad to see such a rare siren disappear, as far as I knew they were abandoned. Not one person in office knew who was in charge of them. No file could be found of them, and to my knowledge the city had no use for them since the 1980's.

I offer my apologies if this topic is kind of random and out of place, I just feel like everyone needed to be informed of this sad situation. I however, have no intention of questioning the city of what was done with them, plus I do not know when they were removed. It could of been two years ago as well, I did not really visit these sirens often. If you guys want to, you have my support to put all the effort into finding out what was done with the sirens.
