If so then that is freakin cool, im glad it is still there but sucks that it hasnt been sounded off in years.
Yes, that is the siren I took a video off. Not only is the oil cap off, All spark plugs have also been removed. That engine would just make a good boat anchor. I have been in contact with both La Canada and the city of Glendale to see if they would let me purchase this siren or at the very least, restore it for free! I was told that that section or patch of land is actually federally owned. Both cities forwarded my letter of intent to the proper channels. No answer still as of yet. I have a fully restored 331 Firepower that I could use on that siren, I have a Chrysler siren myself, but only the Siren and projector section (frame has been cut). I would like to have a complete siren like the one at Cerro Negro, so that I do not have to fabricate a frame and would also save me the headache trying to find the siren fluid coupler transmission.

I hope you or one of us can rescue that monster before something happens to it. If I had more time, I'd try to hit up the watchman who goes up to that lookout tower to check the radio gear every day. I haven't run into him/her, but I am told that there is someone. I guess maybe to leave a note up there wouldn't hurt. I wish it were in Ventura County, as I'd probably be able to get hold of enough people.

BTW: I wonder if that coupling you're talking about, is just a regular Chrysler "fluid-drive" torque converter as was used on the late '40s/early '50s DeSoto and Chrysler cars? I have a friend with a '47 DeSoto Club Coupe with Fluid Drive. That torque converter isn't too hard to find. Nobody wants them, as they were an automotive disaster, so they get replaced with either a modern-day automatic, or a vintage 3-speed standard overdrive transmission usually.

Yes, that's a real 500-lb Federal SD-10 I'm holding (braggart!)
