Current ACA installations seem rare in MI. However, I know for a fact that Cook Nuclear Plant in Bridgman, MI used to have a network of Hurricanes up until the early 1990's. I also have heard that Kalamazoo, MI had Allertors in the past. Check out the YouTube video of the 1980 Kalamazoo tornado. There is clearly a 9/12 siren. Whether it is rotating or not is up in the air.

Its probably because of west shore services being in the state. I believe they only install federal sirens.

Portage had the Alertors and K-zoo had the t-bolts. It's been many years but Firehouse Magazine did a feature on Portage once and the pics showed an Alertor on one of the fire stations. Photos of the Kalamazoo tornado in 1980 shows a t-bolt downtown.

In the early 90's i can still remember seeing a couple of Hurricanes on the west side of 94 south of St. Joe near the state line but those have long since been taken down and replaced with Whelens. Last few times thru St. Joe all I have seen were 2001's near 94.

It could possibly be a 5T or SD-10. There are still some Model 5/7 sirens at fire depts around Kzoo, but I haven't heard them to know if they are single or dual tone.

That's nice to know. You can also hear a Tbolt wind up in the 1980 video, and it sounds like a 5/6, not 4/5 like the one that is on top of the Pfizer building.

Those Hurricanes used to scare me when I was a kid. The dark gray color they were painted just LOOKED scary! I wish there was a recording of them. The fact that they were gray and for nuclear warning makes me believe it's possible that they were single tone.

I don't know of any 2001s around St. Joe, but Palisades nuclear has them. You might have seen those on Red Arrow Highway in Coloma or Watervliet (exit 39 and 41 on I-94).

I am not from St Joe so I don't know the cross streets or boundries but when going down 94 by the shopping centers and hotels is a 2001 (been there at least 5 years) and further south south a 2001 is next to a fire station on the eastside of 94 Benton Twp. maybe? Then going south out of St Joe/Benton area I have noticed a couple of Whelens and as mentioned before (gone now) Hurricanes out in the middle of nowhwere.

Are the Kalamazoo t-bolts still in service?

(Sorry, I should know the answer to this already but I don't).

Kalamazoo and Portage are all 2001s now, with the exception of the 1000T and 1000 at Pfizer plants. Portage are 2001-SRNs, Kalamazoo is a mix of SRNs, SRNBs, and 130s.

I've seen several ACA sirens in Colorado, ranging from Screamers to Allertors.
