Should have called it the Wright Whirlwind instead of an ASC Tempest.

If you don't mind, what diameter is the rotor/stator combo?

No it does a very long cycle wail, I think its 14 up/16 down or somewhere in that range.

Fire that bad boy up in your garage on test day!

You should be able to run those DC motors at any lower voltage than the maximum power, as long as they turn. They run on lower voltages anyway when the batteries run down, and it doesn't hurt them.

Unless the current rises, voltage drop shouldn't be a concern. For a seven-horse motor, that does look rather small!
Up until now I always thought that the front horn section was injection-molded plastic instead of what appears to be fiberglass and resin.

Congrats on the new acquisition!

Considering their previous relationship with Hormann, I wouldn't be surprised if the fire signal was adopted from German practice lol

Thanks! I looked at the motor and its actually a Lesson 6.5 Hp 4000 RPM 48vDC motor. I'm going to see if any of the 4 batteries have power. I know one of them has a bad negative terminal thats been melted or something

Heck, fix that terminal and put those bad boys back on charge. I would charge them using the float chargers that came with the siren. If you rapidly charge them any deposits on the plates could short out the cells, resulting in a dead battery.

I would also remove the batteries and set them upright so any deposits could settle back into the sediment tray in the bottom of the battery. Be sure to do this before you charge them!
