You won't get enough current from a 9 volt battery, which were designed for old transistor radios which used less current than flashlights. There are still some 6 volt motorcycle batteries that would power it.

Congrats! One of my very first sirens was a vehicle siren and I still have it to this day!

Yeah, I was guessing that... I mean, I ran it on a 6V lantern battery and it ran. The battery didn't give much run time so I guess I should use a motorcycle battery.

You can find car battery chargers with a 6 volt setting that put out enough current to run it.
