It had to be in Interstate 44, if you were heading east from the Ozarks it would be on the right side. It was on a Very tall pole. It was somewhere between Springfield and Rolla, I know that doesn't narrow it down much but it's all I can remember.uncommonsense wrote:Really, now? Do you happen to remember which highway you were on and where you were? I may need to go check this out.Crazywarriorman wrote:May come as a bit of a surprise but when I was on the Highway I saw what looked like a Toshiba siren.
A few things have changed: Number one is that stone county does not have very many sirens left sadly. Stone county only has eight left. 2 in Crane, 1 in Silver Dollar City, 3 in Kimberling city, 1 in Cape Fair, and 1 in Branson West. Christian county only has 1 siren left, a Thunderbeam in Ozark.Branson ≠ Lake of the Ozarks. Branson is on Lake Taneycomo and surrounded by Bull Shoals and Table Rock Lake. All Branson has is 2700s, but you'll find Thunderbolts all around rural Stone and Taney County (drive out to Branson West and there is a Thunderbolt, a damn good looking one, behind the Wal-Mart. Galena, at one point, had one of the lowest mounted Thunderbolts I'd ever seen; not sure if it is still there or not). I'm not sure what kind of sirens are around the resorts of Table Rock.
If you get a chance to drive north into Christian County, you'll see every which thing. Ozark for sure has a Thunderbeam along Highway 65 near the Tracker factory (I think there's another one somewhere else, too) and a rotating Whelen in town. Nixa has an SD-10 along Highway 160 and a Whelen 2805 at the high school. There are some Thunderbolts in the panhandle of Christian County and into Lawrence County. If you were to make it up to Greene County and Springfield, we're 2001 country up here; nothing much to note unless you wanted to see a late model STH-10 and two roof mounted SD-10s on Missouri State's campus.
Not quite sure what all happened to that one because back in the 90's the mayor John Rhodes (I believe who was the mayor) Went out to Shell Knob and at the time there was a very large lot of sirens(drive out to Branson West and there is a Thunderbolt, a damn good looking one, behind the Wal-Mart
