Was it really? I will have to shoot someone a message and I'll definitely be taking a ride up there today (it's only about 20 minutes away). I know Tommy at the EMA mentioned on the FB group that many sirens are going to be fully restored, including the Thunderbeam in Germantown.

Glad to see it's getting repaired instead of replaced. Sorta reminded me of a FS 508.

Tommy at the EMA has an account and gets on sometimes, but until he does, I will pass along the message I got from him:

"Repair, the head's been re-worked and we're a waiting repairs on the fiberglass then sending to paint after."

I have always wondered, is the rotator belt-driven, chain driven, or gear driven?

They are chain driven via a gear motor.

Pretty much, except with a larger three phase rotation motor.
