The blue is a cool color on that siren. I like how they really made sure that Whelen won't go anywhere one of the only times i've seen guy wires used

I took a picture of a 2T22 in Ford, Kansas that was pole mounted, but had the roof mount stand and guy wires.

Nice pics! That STH-10 looks cool. Also, the last siren that you labeled a Model 7 is actually a Fedelcode Model 2.

How do you tell the difference? Also, whats the difference between fedelcode and non-fedelcode sirens? (Fixed the description)

The physical difference is the shape of the housings the Federal Signal looks like this (model 2 is the one on the step ladder)

also shows the model 3,5,7 and fedelcode sirens all together

So what exactly is with the Fedelcode, are they like Darley sirens or something? (I.e. Federal guts with a custom housing.)

EDIT: I'm sorry, but I don't see any difference in the shape of the housing between the Fedelcode and the Federal Signals :\

Fedelcodes I THINK were originally made with dampers to 'code' the sirens for fire calls. Someone else could probably better explain this though.

Thats what I was thinking. Anyway, see my edit. I can see how this one is a model 2 though, its much smaller than the 5/6 in Rigby. Is there a way to tell between the 5 and the 7?

exactly. they had a damper plate which could be moved to block the chopper intake so it could do pulsed/coded signals. the mechanisms are different, but it's the same in practice as the dampers on the 3T22.

edit: though I don't see how they could effectively do it on a Model 2, since the chopper was open on both sides; and you've got the motor on the bottom getting in the way of putting a damper there.

So that means that the Model 2 probably isn't a Fedelcode?
EDIT: err, nevermind... Image
