It's sad that It took a major investigation to get them to update their systems. But atleast there will finally be good coverage throught the Indianapolis Metro area. Right now Hamilton County has the best system in the state. 50+ Fed. Sig. 2001's, and 3 Model 2's. But soon Indianapolis and Marion County will have the best system in the state, and one of the best in the nation. It will be one of the most advanced as far as activation goes atleast. I activated the sirens for a test in October, 28 out of 140 failed. 1 2001 (hit by a car), both SD-10's, and a slew of T-bolts and Model 5's. The T-128's are a first in Central Indiana. Most new sirens installed are 2001's.
Here is a map of the 9-County region siren systems. When I get home I'll upload the individual county maps becuase you can see them better that way. It took me 3 months to identify all of the sirens. I've e-mailed about 20 of the communities, used windows live local, the WTHR investigation, the Marion County EMA, and for some just driving ito dentify all of the makes and models. I've still got about 20 unidentified sirens, mostly VFD and outlying sirens.
