Got to hear Whelen Vortex-r's during a Dec tornado warning

Sat Dec 30, 2006 7:57 am

Fort Worth Emergency Mang. sounded a tornado warning on December 29th! A bit late in the year for spring storms. Apparently several tornados were reported from Waco to Ft Worth. I was sitting with my back door open watching the weather when i heard the wind-up. Strange enough, the wind-up was the loudest part. The siren i could hear best is about a mile from me. Apparently the low frequency of the initial wind up carries farther that the warning tone. I was dissapointed in that this siren only sounds a steady tone for three mins. The other sirens wail! That would carry better.
Q2B or not 2B that is the question.

I saw that a tornado was spotted in Tarrant county yesterday.

Tornadoes never came into the city right?

I had the privilege of driving to Dallas Love Field in that. I learned that toll plazas + lightning= interesting light show.
