Harrodsburg post office 3T22A replacement installed!

I have yet again another update on Mercer County's sirens. Today while traveling through Harrodsburg, I happened to notice something on the stand where the former post office 3T22A (struck by lightning last August) originally stood. And sure enough it looked like the FD had finally installed the siren's replacement! I don't know the exact model because I wasn't close enough to tell, but it looked to me like it was a brand new Sentry 7V8! I will try to get pictures of the new siren as soon as possible and hopefully a recording of it in the future.

I now have a couple of pictures of the new Sentry 7V8 ontop of the Post office. Hopefully, someday I can get a recording of this bad boy in operation! Please excuse the picture quality, and I'll try to get some better pictures soon.

On a side note, I have also found out that there is another, yes another, 3t22 located near I believe Office st. in southern Harrodsburg!

I honestly don't know but I hope not. Hopefully if it isn't, they will just rebuild it and re-install it somewhere else.

If it was struck by lightning and rendered inoperable, then I highly doubt they'll rebuild it. If the motor dies on a single-motor siren like that, especially the 2/3T22s with that special double shaft motor, then the main (and most expensive) part of the siren is shot and it isn't worth the money to rewind/replace to get it running again.

Yep, if the field is gone is can be done for under $2000. But if the armature has a broken bar or gets melted you had might as well junk it. That will easily push the price into the same range as a new siren.
