diaphones in Lamoyne, Pa?

Tue May 29, 2012 1:01 pm

I know something like this has been posted before back in 2008 but it didn't mention this. I am currently sitting in the parking lot of the Coca-Cola plant looking over toward the xpedx shipping company or whatever (lol) and I think I see light gray diaphone sticking up over there. I tried to get a picture but camera on phone just doesn't get it even if I zoom. I know there are diaphones here (a blue one on the fire dept) but can anyone confirm that there is one in that vicinity? Its just barely too far away to make out clearly. Thanks

never mind guys, when I was coming back from this place I got closer and realized that it was just a weirdly shaped antenna, it had a long piece coming up from the building and then a right angle and another piece sticking out to the side. it looked, from a distance, legitly like a diaphone. anyways, since the topic is open, do you guys in lemoyne do noon tests or just set em off when duty calls?

Cumberland County discontinued noon testing about 8 years ago or so, this Diaphone does sound when there is a call. Interestingly enough, when the tones hit there is a relay to a clockwork diaphone controller (like you would see as part of a Gamewell system) which sounds out box 11 (1, pause, 1). There is also a Model 5 out back of the Lemoyne Fire Department but that is for CD purposes only, in all of the time I have been around I have never heard the Model 5 make a peep. The diaphone has piston problems it sounds like or maybe it is an aluminum piston....either way it doesn't great, not bad but definitly not great.
